TACLOBAN CITY: San Juanico Bridge, Mc Arthur and Sto. Nino Shrines (October 16-19, 2009)

Maita Reina Gomez Sucgang hosted our first UGNA-Tacloban City reunion. My airfare and Doma-an's for this trip was thru the courtesy of Mitch, who was also booked for this trip but didn't make it from Sweden to Tacloban. Sure, she'll make up for it next reunion. John traveled, but was haunted by a nagging allergy and so he aborted this trip too, however he sent two boxes of fruits instead. what a pity.

Gigette and Joy sailed all the way from Iloilo-Cebu-Tacloban, vv. just to make it to this reunion. Dom-an and I were on the same flight, Pinky and Jun arrived separately. That dryly means, Maita frequented the airport 3 times.

Outpouring adjectives in silence (here) flowed all through out this rare gathering.

Day 1- Arrival, Food trip, Exchanging of stories continued unabated through out the night

Day 2- City Tour: Crossing San Juanico Bridge Leyte-Samar, Mc Arthur Landing Shrine, Sto. Nini Shrine (Romualdez Museum)

Other info lifted from blogs:

The Sto. NiƱo Shrine and Heritage Museum is one of the many rest houses that the Marcoses had built. It houses 7 bedrooms built for the members of the Marcos family, 13 guest rooms, a ballroom and what look like conference rooms. Each room is magnificently designed and decorated. Each with a theme. Each with a diorama of the life story of Imelda. The site is full of numerous expensive, even priceless, pieces of art that will introduce your jaws to the floor each time. From imported furniture to local artworks, the place just screams magnificence.
